Here's What's Included in Hyundai's Free PMS Package

When Hyundai Philippines came up with the 5x5 Promo last September, they made history being the first automaker to offer a free 5-year Preventive Maintenance Service (PMS) package on top of their 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty.

The promo, subsequently extended until December of last year, is now back. Now re-titled, 5x5 L.O.V.E. or Live Own Value Enjoy, Hyundai says its your passport to a worry-free ownership, well, if you plan to get a Santa Fe, Tucson, or Grand Starex that is.

As great as it sounded though, there was some social media backlash with the first 5x5 Promo, specifically with dealers starting to charge customers for what’s supposed to have been a free PMS package. Well, reaching out to Hyundai Philippines, they clarified that the free PMS package only covers the “Basic PMS package.” For clarity, the list of what’s included is listed in the table below. Pardon that the table is kinda big and is in gray scale, but that is the best way for you to get it in high-res.

Other items and repairs needed (which are not included in the basic PMS package as specified), will be subject to the approval of the owner and will be charged to his account.

Take note that the promo covers a total of 21 PMS visits and owners must bring in their Hyundai vehicle during the first month or 1,000-km; third month or 5,000-km; and every three months or 5,000-km thereafter to keep it going. If a customer ends up skipping the prescribed PMS, the next applicable PMS shall be applied and the PMS skipped is deemed waived. The Service Passport is updated after each PMS visit.

Going back to the 5x5 L.O.V.E. promo, every purchase of a Grand Starex, Santa Fe, or Tucson from any authorized dealer nationwide from today until February 29 includes the free 5-year Basic PMS package. On top of that, the promo can be availed in conjunction with any existing sales promotions such as cash discounts, low downpayments, etc.

Nissan Refreshes the Urvan for 2020 with Added Safety Features

Typically, utility vans like the Urvan rarely get any love—as long as they can do their job, they’re not exactly the focus of nifty updates and stuff. Well, Nissan at least is showering some love on the Urvan, and hopefully this is a sign of what we’re going to be seeing in the near future.

The 2020 Nissan Urvan (NV350 Caravan in Japan) gets a new high-end GX Urban variant. This one swaps the traditional halogen headlights for projector-type ones illuminated by LEDs. On top of that, it gets new 15-inch wheels and the use of dark chrome on the grille, door mirror, and rear plate garnish. New options for this year include side sill protectors and a rear under protector.

Feature-wise, the 2020 Urvan GX Urban adds an automatic dimming rear view mirror and power side door.

In terms of safety, the 2020 Urvan now gets Nissan’s Around View Monitor—a segment first, as well as Intelligent Emergency Braking on top of standard ABS with EBD, and stability control.

Mechanically, the Urvan remains unchanged for 2020. In Japan, that means being equipped with a choice between two 4-cylinder gasoline engine: a 2.0-liter with 130 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque, a 2.5-liter with 147 horsepower and 213 Nm of torque, or a 2.5-liter diesel (YD25DDTi) with 129 horsepower and 356 Nm of torque.

For the Philippine market, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll be seeing a gasoline-powered Urvan anytime soon. However, Nissan may choose to introduce features like the LED headlights and 360-degree camera for its higher trim models to keep it competitive against the recently launched Toyota Hiace.

Toyota's President Just Sent This Heartfelt Greeting to Mazda on Their 100th Anniversary

Toyota Motor Corporation President and hardcore car guy Akio Toyoda greeted Mazda on their 100th anniversary proving that there’s only love between these two Japanese carmakers. In a post on Morizo (his racing alter ego)’s blog, he said:
“When I visited Hiroshima in cooperation with Mazda, I was guided to a test course instead of the president’s office…It was a moment when I realized again that Mazda is a company with love and passion who has been thoroughly focused on driving pleasure.”
An avid racer, Mazda also invited Toyoda to participate in the 30th Mazda Roadster 4-Hour Endurance Race. Here, he saw their genuine car company culture. In that regard, he says that they really live up to the ethos of, “Be a Driver.” Moreover, he sees that both Toyota and Mazda have the same aim: to bring mobility to more people. In that regard, he acknowledges Mazda’s contribution in making that mobility richer and more enjoyable.

Toyoda also realizes the irreplaceable bond that Mazda has with its hometown of Hiroshima:
“Just four months after the bombing of Hirsohima, Mazda resumed production of its tricycles, contributing greatly to local revival. When Hiroshima suffers, Mazda becomes the light, and when Mazda suffers, Hiroshima supports. Cars exist not in isolation, but in society. I sincerely hope that Mazda and Hiroshima will continue their ‘thank you’ relationship for the next 100 years.”

Mitsubishi to Take Engineering Lead in Southeast Asia for Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance

Despite persistence that the Alliance was in the verge of breaking up post Carlos Ghosn, Renault, Nissan, and Mitsubishi have jointly announced that they are instead deepening their relationship. This is not just to maximize the collaboration within each Alliance member, but also to enhance their competitiveness globally.

The new framework, ratified at a meeting of the Alliance Operating Board (AOB) in Yokohama, Japan, will enhance the ability of the Alliance member companies to capitalize on the individual company’s strengths and complement their strategies.

The AOB also reaffirmed key programs outlined at the previous board meeting in November to support initiatives that will enable each member company to increase competitiveness and profitability amid the industry shift to new mobility services.

Among the plans in place include an engineering model that will work on a leader/follower model covering platforms, powertrains, and other key technologies. This means that one company will take the lead in the Alliance for the development of each key technology, which will then be spread among Alliance partners.

Interestingly enough, the Alliance revealed the so-called “leader” for each key market. Nissan will take the lead for China, Renault for Europe, and Mitsubishi for Southeast Asia.

As a consequence of this announcement, the three companies will announce changes to their own strategic mid-term plans which will be disclosed in further detail coming May 2020.

Vehicle Importers See Full Year Sales Remain Steady in 2019

The Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors, Inc. (AVID) ended the year with a marginal dip of just 0.5 percent, selling 87,984 units compared to 2018’s 88,430 units. This was as the 13-member group rallied with a strong December performance, selling 8,089 units—a 12 percent increased versus the same month in 2018.

AVID President Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo said, “AVID’s performance in the last month of the year augurs well for the automotive industry as we begin the Year of the Metal Rat and the new decade. The continued easing of inflation rates, lower fuel prices, and increased government spending will only bolster sales for the group. We will complement these positive indicators with new models, value-packed service offerings, and easier ownership schemes.”

For 2019, the Passenger Cars (PC) segment declined by 0.5 percent from 30,876 units sold in 2018 to 30,726 units sold in in 2019. Hyundai sold more vehicles in this segment than all reporting members combined with a total of 17,761 units in 2019. Suzuki follows with 8,621 units. Several other brands also recorded positive sales last year such as Ford and most luxury brands—Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Volvo.

The PC segment climbed 5 percent in December 2019 alone with 2,608 units versus the same period in 2018.

In the Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) segment, AVID recorded a 1.1 percent dip in 2019 sales from 56,999 units sold in 2018 to 56,351 units in 2019. However, performance of this segment increased by 16 percent in December 2019 alone with 5,362 units sold versus the same period last year. Ford leads this segment with a total of 19,993 units sold, followed by Suzuki comes after with 15,298 units and Hyundai, a close third, closely followed by Hyundai with 15,095 units sold in 2019.

In the Commercial Vehicles (CV) segment, AVID recorded a 63 percent increase in sales or a total of 907 units in 2019 versus 2018. In December alone, CV sales increased soared by 98 percent with 119 units sold versus November 2019.

Caltex Opens 30 Service Stations in 2019, Heads into 2020 Even Stronger

Caltex, the retail brand of Chevron, closes 2019 with a series of milestones including the opening of 30 new service stations in 2019, allowing them reach more customers nationwide. This feat is on top of setting a new Guinness World Record and the inking of new partnerships as well.

The growing number of their retail sites is a testament of Caltex’s determination to reach out to every community in the country by providing fuels that power every drive to a joyful ride. Caltex aims to open more stations this year to provide quality and reasonably priced fuels and help millions of Filipino motorists set personal records on their journeys.

Aside from the continued growth of its retail network, 2019 saw Caltex forge strategic team-ups with leading companies such as LICA Auto Group, AC Motors, and Lalamove to bring clean, safe and quality fuels to more customers. The team-ups allow the customers, employees, and contractors of these partners to earn big fuel savings through their Caltex SavePlus card.

Caltex has always proven how their fuels take every ride to the next level. Last July 2019, the same Caltex with Techron that Filipino motorists use in their everyday journey is the same fuel that recently powered a 28-year old car to set an official Guinness Book world-record of fastest 1,000 meter ascent up Thailand’s Doi Chang Mountain, in under 7 minutes.

Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of Caltex, was also able to comply with the government’s initiative to deter oil smuggling in the country. CPI is the first of the “Big Three” to join the fuel marking program.

In 2019, Caltex became the only fuel brand to extend rewards offering to utilities, telecoms, and tollroads, in addition to food and groceries, for loyal motorists by partnering with the MVP Group for the Caltex-MVP Rewards Loyalty Program.

Aside from service stations, the Caltex Havoline autoPro Workshop Program’s expansion shows no signs of stopping. Since the opening of its first site in Davao City last May 2019, it has established its presence in other parts of the country and more shops will open in 2020. Caltex Havoline autoPro Workshop is tailored for quick-lube and automotive service business owners who want to partner with a global brand to gain credibility as a preferred operator.

Caltex enters 2020 more determined to provide world class quality products that will meet motorists’ fuel needs.

“Toyota espouses mobility for all, and we believe that sports has a profound power to improve the lives of young Filipinos,” said Elijah Marcial, Vice President for Marketing Services at TMP. “Through Toyota Football for Tomorrow program, we are giving deserving kids a chance to achieve their dreams by polishing their raw talent. Soon, TMP and 7x7 will start going to key areas in the country to recruit potential clinic participants who will be given the chance to start their football journey with the help of Toyota and its dealer network.

The Blaupunkt BP 7.1 Dash Cam Watches Your Driving Like It Does Your Car

Dashcams are now dime a dozen—coming in all shapes and sizes, prices and features. So what sets the Blaupunkt BP 7.1 from the rest? Well, it keeps an eye out not just on your car, but on your driving as well.

Using its high-precision optics, the Blaunpunkt BP 7.1 goes beyond the usual dash cam functionality by offering Advanced Driver Assistance System or ADAS. Whether you’re in an entry-level sedan or even in a classic car, it instantly adds Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) and Front Vehicle Start Alert (FVSA). If these features sound familiar, they should; it’s commonly seen in high-end vehicles. LDWS warns the driver if it detects that you’re moving away from the lane. This is useful during long trips, or when you’re driving fatigued. Meanwhile, FVSA alerts you when the car ahead is on the move; a handy feature during stop-and-go traffic.

Another way the Blaupunkt BP 7.1 looks out for your car is through its 24/7 recording function. Other dashcams stop looking out once the ignition’s off, but here, the BP 7.1 switches to its parking mode. It keeps an eye out on your car by either continuously recording video in time-lapse (2 frames per second) or through smart motion detection. Whatever the setting, it helps deter theft or vandalism (or at least captures the culprit), especially when parking in vulnerable areas. A low voltage cut-off prevents the car’s battery charge from getting too low.

Finally, setting the Blaupunkt BP 7.1 apart is the fact that it’s a two-channel dash cam. It simultaneously records footage of what’s ahead and what’s behind the vehicle. With 230 degrees of visual protection (120 degrees in front, 110 degrees at the back) almost nothing escapes its view. And even in low light conditions, it can capture pertinent details like number plates without the need of any LED light that can cause unwanted windshield glare.

With Manila’s unpredictable traffic, it pays to be extra cautious. The Blaupunkt BP 7.1 is a great way to keep an eye out on your car, and your own well-being. Think of it not just as your car’s built-in CCTV, but as your driving coach as well. It’s 24/7 protection that gives you extra peace of mind.

You can check the technical nitty gritty below. For more information on the Blaupunkt BP 7.1, you can contact Blaupunkt Philippines through their Facebook page or mobile at +63 917 5754812

The Only Batch of Leaf-Spring Equipped Navaras Will Service Your Nissan Where You Want It

Nissan Philippines launches its “Service on Wheels,” a mobile solution that delivers scheduled onsite aftersales services and repairs, such as house calls or service caravans. This is to provide Nissan customers excellent vehicle car and services to more customers outside of their authorized service centers.

Answering customer requests, the program enables participating Nissan dealerships to deploy a specially-kitted Navara, the only variant with rear leaf springs operated by two Nissan-certified technicians.

Now, we asked Nissan Philippines if this is a sign that they will be launching a leaf-sprung version of the Navara soon. They have confirmed: it will only be used for the Service on Wheels program. In short, if you want to drive one, you have to be one of the Nissan-certified technicians.

Toyota Motor Philippines sold 162,011 units in 2019 making it the dominant number one automaker in the country with a 39.5 percent market share. The carmaker also secured the number one spot as the country’s best-selling passenger car brand and best-selling commercial vehicle brand. This allowed Toyota to secure their 18th straight Triple Crown.

According to Toyota Motor Philippines Chairman Alfred V. Ty, around 33 percent (54,028) were produced locally in their Santa Rosa manufacturing plant furthering their commitment to the development of the local automotive industry.

Broken down further, 33,181 sold was the Vios—Toyota’s entry into the Philippine government’s Comprehensive Automotive Reform or CARS Program. This cemented the Vios as Toyota’s best-selling nameplate, and the best-selling passenger car locally. Moving on, Mr. Ty says they’re on track to deliver its 200,000-unit commitment under the program.

Apart from the Vios’s impressive performance, the following Toyota vehicles managed to be number one in their respective segments in 2019:
  • Toyota Vios – Best-Selling Sub-compact Passenger Car
  • Toyota Land Cruiser LC200 – Best-Selling Large SUV
  • Toyota Camry – Best-Selling Medium-sized Passenger Car
  • Toyota Rush – Best-Selling Entry-Level SUV
  • Toyota Wigo – Best-Selling Low-Cost Passenger Car
  • Toyota Innova – Best-Selling MPV
  • Toyota Fortuner – Best-Selling Mid-sized SUV
  • Toyota Hilux – Best-Selling Pickup Truck
  • Toyota Hiace – Best-Selling Utility Van
Aside from strong sales last year, Mr. Ty also reiterated Toyota’s role in nation building.

“As industry leader, it is Toyota’s role to drive the industry back to sustainable growth.   We will continue to be this country’s solid partner in nation-building.  In fact, as of end 2019, Toyota Motor Philippines has paid a total of P 384.3 Billion cumulative taxes since the start of our operations,” expressed Chairman Alfred V. Ty.

He further adds, “Despite the downturn of 2018, Toyota Motor Philippines maintained its workforce of 2,195 Filipinos, on top of those employed by its network of 71 dealers nationwide.”

Sherwin Chualim, First Vice President for Marketing Division went on to say, “we sincerely appreciate the motoring public for their trust and confidence in Toyota throughout the years.”

This is Why You Should Never Ride with Your Feet Up a Car's Dashboard

Car guys always hate it when their front passengers put up their feet on the dashboard. Well, aside from looking unsightly and disguisting, there’s now a more important reason not to do that: it’s unsafe.

Shared by Autoblog, a young woman has suffered “life changing” injuries when she sat with her feet up. When the car she was riding in got caught in a minor accident, the result to her is rather gruesome. Basically, her foot flew into her face, breaking her nose, femur, and ankle. In her x-rays, the doctors discovered that one femur snapped, while one hip is broken in the socket, and the other has been dislocated.

If you want visual proof, check out her x-ray:

It must be remembered that airbags deploy anywhere between 177 km/h to 354 km/h. If you ride with your feet on the dash, and you’re involved in an accident, the force of the impact is enough to send your knees through your eye sockets.

Always remember: for the airbags to work, sit up straight with your feet on the floor.

Toyota Motor Philippines Donates P 2M for Families Displaced by Taal Eruption

To help families affected by the recent Taal volcano eruption, local automotive leader Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) and its media partners have pledged P 2 million as aid for evacuees in regional relief centers in Batangas and Laguna province.

The announcement was made during TMP President-designate Atsuhiro Okamoto’s welcome remarks at the carmaker’s annual Media Thanksgiving event.

Incidentally, the event was Okamoto’s first official media appearance after being appointed as TMP’s president-designate.

“The eruption of Taal Volcano during my first month here in the Philippines is very unfortunate for many Filipinos,” said Okamoto. “But it also shows the Filipino values of bayanihan and resilience.  The ability to stay positive during hard challenges is truly a wonder. I believe this is what moves this country forward.  I hope to make this my second home in the coming years.”

The financial contribution will be allocated for necessary supplies to support the evacuees displaced by the Taal Volcano eruption in various centers in the Province of Batangas, and to the City of Santa Rosa which is assigned as the Regional Evacuation Center of CALABARZON.

Nissan Remains the Philippines's Fastest Growing Car Brand

Nissan Philippines continues its momentum in 2019, finishing the year as the fastest growing brand yet again. For the entire 12-month period, the Japanese carmaker sold 42,694 units equating to a 22.2 percent growth. This is five times the auto industry’s growth last year.

With this impressive performance, Nissan maintains its rank within the top three automotive brands in the country according to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines or CAMPI. Within 2019, Nissan broke two of its own sales records, selling 4,616 units in March and 4,768 units in September. In September, the Navara became the best-selling pickup truck in the country.

Among its line-up, the Navara contributed the most, selling 19,034 units or 44.6 percent of total sales. The Nissan Terra mid-sized SUV and the Urvan followed each contributing 10,469 and 7,157 units respectively. Moreover, the Terra is now the third best-selling mid-sized SUV among CAMPI brands by the end of 2019.

Recognizing its performance, Nissan Philippines also received the Nissan Global Award for Financial Year 2019 as the top sales performer for the brand worldwide.

This 2020, Nissan aims to sustain its growth with innovative products (including the all-electric Leaf), reliable services, a strong dealer network, and a vibrant company culture.

Nissan's Ultimate Go-Anywhere Navara Gets Upgrades for Better Efficiency, Drivability

When Nissan launched a limited-edition, factory-beefed up Navara called the Navara Off-Roader AT32, it was quickly snapped up by European buyers. Well, no worries because building on the success of the previous model, here’s the newest go anywhere Navara: the 2020 Navara Off-Roader AT32.

Once again, Nissan collaborated with Icelandic company Artic Trucks to transform the refreshed Navara into the ultimate off-roader. With that, the Navara Off-Roader AT32 continues to offer full underbody shielding which has been upgraded to a lightweight aluminum material. The improved shape also ensures of a more comprehensive protection of underbody components.

Already a capable off-roader, Artic Trucks concentrated in improving the Navara Off-Roader AT32’s efficiency and on-road dynamics. With that, it gains new 31.6-inch Nokian tires which is said to improve fuel efficiency, emissions, and on-road handling. Meanwhile, the special satin black alloy wheels are fitted with dual valves to allow the fast and accurate adjustment of tire pressure when moving between different terrains.

Other key features carried over from the previous Navara Off-Roader AT32 include all-terrain wheel arch extensions and all-terrain optimized Bilstein performance suspension. The model is also finished off with special badging.

For those who need to venture further, the Navara Off-Roader AT32 can be optioned with an electronic lock for the front differential to boost traction in extreme conditions, while an air intake snorkel increases the Navara’s maximum wading depth to a 800 millimeters.

Despite its off-road prowess, the Navara Off-Roader AT32 keeps the advanced on-board technologies such as Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Intelligent Emergency Braking, and Intelligent Around View Monitor.

Like the previous Navara Off-Roader AT32, sadly, this model is slated for sale only in Europe. Having said that, perhaps this should serve as inspiration for those who are looking to upgrade their Nissan pickup into a true go-anywhere off-roader.

Review: 2020 MG RX5 1.5T Alpha

Among all of MG Philippines’s initial product offerings—the MG ZS, MG6, and the MG RX5, the RX5 represents what is perhaps their boldest move. Competing in the compact SUV segment where desire can sometimes rule over reason, can their value-oriented positioning succeed in a segment where the Americans failed miserably, and where Japanese and Korean brands rule the roost?

If exterior styling is the only measure, then the MG RX5 starts things off on the right foot. The lines are, admittedly, a bit generic, but they’re clean and elegant nonetheless; not exactly a head-turner, but no wrong angles on this one either. It’s sharp and understated—trading in being fashionable for something longer-lasting.

Now, if there’s one nitpick you can throw the MG RX5’s way is that it doesn’t have any familial resemblance to the rest of the MG family—no London Eye headlights, no Startdust Grille. And this is because it didn’t start life out as an MG. Instead, it’s a Chinese market model called the Roewe RX5 with MG badging. Proof is found in small design details—details in the head- and taillights for example that read, “Roewe Full LED Technology.”

Regardless, that shouldn’t be a turn off because no matter what’s written in the headlight cluster, there’s no denying that the RX5’s well-speced. This P 1.298-million Alpha for example comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic sunroof on top of the aforementioned LED lighting tech. The competition should take note.

Naturally, something’s got to give and in the case of the MG RX5, it’s found in the interior. Fit and finish are still generally alright—all the panels match up, and the color palette is consistent throughout, but the materials could, admittedly, be better. Poke around long enough and the hard surfaces on the lower doors, dashboard, and even the center console make themselves known. Even the switchgear feels a step below to the MG ZS and MG 6. Kudos though to MG for creating a haptic distraction in the form of some soft-touch plastic pieces and plush leather on the dashboard, steering wheel, or seats.

Normally, compact SUVs pride themselves of giving their owners an easy time getting in and out. At just the right height, sliding the legs is all that’s needed—no crouching, bending, or stretching necessary. In the MG RX5 though, the seats, whether front or back, are mounted high. While this gives a more commanding view of the road ahead, it also requires a bit more stretching to get in. Honestly, the movement is awkward and slightly uncomfortable, exacerbated by the sharply raked A-pillar which bumps heads and messes up hairdos once in a while. With a squared-off roof line and a generous wheelbase (2,700 mm), those in the back fair better. It has more knee room than most of its competitors while offering amenities such as reclinable seatbacks. Curiously, its 595-liter cargo hold is smaller than its competitors though it goes up to 1,639 liters with the rear seats folded.

Another oddity of the MG RX5 is found in the instrument cluster itself. Unlike the MG 6 which uses a nice, full-colored 7-inch display, this more expensive offering goes back to a pixel-starved 3.5-inch display. It’s legible, sure, but it doesn’t exactly reinforce a feeling of modernity. What’s more, personalization settings are split between the infotainment system and the nearly-indecipherable calculator-like display between the gauges. With Apple CarPlay built-in straight out of the box, the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is generally alright, but it’s weird why it always turns on with the volume always set to Volume 5 regardless of whatever setting it had last.

Sharing its platform with the MG ZS and the MG6, the RX5 drives and rides in a very similar way. Solid, but rough around the edges.

Powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, the RX5 makes a respectable 169 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. While not exactly a standout on paper, its stout torque (available from 1,700 to 4,400 rpm) makes for some spritely performance. Its straight line performance is commendable, but not outstanding. When pushed, the engine sounds a bit gruff, but besides that it’s smooth. Economy-wise, despite having to carry a 1,501-kilogram frame, this front-wheel drive SUV manages 9.01 km/L in weekday, and 11.62 km/L in weekend traffic. Oh, but it’s worth remember though that it, like the MG6 requires a strict diet of 95 octane fuel.

Similar to the MG6, the RX5 mates this turbocharged motor to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic. This wet-type, oil-cooled unit is far less jerky than most other dual clutch applications, and should also be more durable. There is still some telltale low-speed lurching especially when going uphill, but because the shifts are a bit lazy, it keeps gear hunting and jerking to a minimum.

As far as road manners are concerned, it’s easily the RX5’s weakest point. It feels too uneven and unpredictable to be of any threat to the segment stalwarts. At lower speeds, it tends to be choppy through corrugated surfaces. Show it a larger obstacle though like potholes, and oddly enough, the ride smoothens out. The same goes at higher speeds—it feels reasonably pliant. Suffice to say, it’s on the highway where this MG belongs. It eats up miles in comfort with a nice, weighty steering and controlled NVH levels. However, start throwing it into corners, and it loses some of that poise. It’s predictable, but shifts its weight in an ungainly way.

After all’s said and done, the MG RX5 delivers everything expected of a compact SUV: practicality, convenience, space, luxury, and safety. And sure, it manages to trump all others when it comes to its value-oriented positioning. However, in the bigger scheme of things, the RX5 doesn’t shout excitement. It’s a commendable and somewhat different choice for those deciding solely using the mind. However, in a segment full of heavy hitters, it just doesn’t tug at the heart much. It lacks the “x-factor” to really stand out.
