Admission to the Vios Racing Festival is free for those who want to witness the action live. A livestream of the race will also be broadcast via TMP’s official Facebook account, while behind-the-scene highlights will be posted on Toyota Motor Philippines’s Twitter and Instagram accounts.

The 2019 Vios Racing Festival is headlined by celebrity racers who will conclude their performances in this year’s Vios Circuit Championship. The third leg happening this weekend will reveal who among Vios racers Gerald Anderson, Chie Filomeno, Gretchen Ho, Daniel Matsunaga, Aubrey Miles, and Troy Montero will get to take the crown in the Celebrity Class.

Fabio Ide, meanwhile, will race against promising motorsports champions in the Promotional Class. Seasoned racers and track veterans will also keep the Vios Racing Festival waku-doki spirit high with the action-packed Sporting Class considered as the event’s highlight by many race patrons.

Vios Car Club members, motoring journalists, social media personalities, and Toyota social media contest winners will also complete their Vios Racing Festival experience with the final rounds of the Vios Autocross Challenge.

“This event is really about celebrating the continuing rise of motorsports in the country and the discovery of more Filipino racing talents,” said Ma. Cristina Arevalo, TMP’s First Vice President for Brand and Product Planning. “We hope you can join us for the very last time this year, as we proudly champion our racers and exhibit the power of the Vios.”

“And as a commitment to our loyal Vios Racing Festival supporters, we assure you that we’re coming back again next year to continue the tradition of the country’s premier one-make race event,” she added.

Rain-Soaked Track Adds to Vios Cup Round 3 Action

The rain did not stop the action at the third leg of the Toyota Vios Racing Festival this weekend, as racers from different classes and participating teams sped through the track of the Clark International Speedway with added challenge but heightened waku-doki spirit.

At the end of the August 31 race day, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) recognized more than 20 racers who successfully made it to the podium after competing at the second round of the Vios Circuit Championship and the third round of the Vios Autocross Challenge.

Claiming two first place victories at the Circuit Challenge Celebrity Class is Troy Montero who, unfortunately, had to drop out of Race 6 after a surprising crash with Sporting Class racer John Dizon, right after crossing the finish line for Race 5. Daniel Matsunaga took the top spot of the Celebrity Class for Race 6.

Aside from Montero, celebrity racer Chie Filomeno also slid off-track due to aquaplaning, causing her to not finish the final race. Both celebrities were quickly brought to the hospital for checkups, and were cleared to be back at the venue in time for the awarding ceremonies.

“No matter what happens, I still find myself coming back to this sport. The adrenaline rush it gives me is out of this world,” said Filomeno in an Instagram post she wrote after the race.

“Despite the outside damage, the driver’s area was totally untouched. We also have a roll cage, race suit, and helmet, and most especially the HANS (head and neck) device to keep us safe,” explained Montero in his own Instagram account.

In the Circuit Challenge’s Sporting Class, Red Diwa of JBT Racing - Toyota Isabela won Race 4 and Eggy Ong of JBT Racing- Toyota San Fernando managed to keep the first place title in both Races 5 and 6.

In the Promotional Class, it was Julian Tang of Toyota Otis Obengers who led in Race 4 while one of the only two female racers in this class, Elysse Menorca of Toyota North EDSA Obenger won Races 5 and 6.

During last weekend’s Autocross event, Carlos Inigo Anton won the Car Clubs category, Jose Luis Altoveros led the Media Category, while Jules Aquino took the top spot in the Social Media Personalities category.

“On behalf of Toyota Motor Philippines, I would like to express my deepest appreciation to our customers and fans who have dedicated time and effort to witness our Vios motorsports events,” said TMP President Satoru Suzuki during the race’s opening ceremonies attended by the race participants and spectators.

TMP has been organizing Vios motorsport events in the country for six years now. For this season, TMP added the Autocross Challenge to the event, transforming the annual Vios Cup into a more inclusive and accessible Vios Racing Festival.

The next and final leg of the Vios Racing Festival is scheduled on November 9, still at the Clark international Speedway.

Rain or Shine, the Vios Cup is On This Weekend

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is inviting all racing fans and car enthusiasts to the August leg of its grassroots motorsports series, the Vios Racing Festival.

Experience waku-doki this weekend at the Clark International Speedway as celebrities, car club members, Toyota owners, and motoring media take it pedal-to-the-metal with the Toyota Vios. To further elevate excitement for race fans, the Toyota GR Supra will mark its return to the Vios Racing Festival race track since its first official Philippine appearance during the previous leg. This time, Toyota’s flagship race model will join in the action as the official pace car of the circuit races.

Admission to the event is free, and there will be shuttles available to the general public from SM City Clark going to the venue. Side events and activities will also be opened for the enjoyment of groups of friends or families.

The spectacle can also be streamed via Toyota’s official Facebook page.

Catch celebrity drivers Gretchen Ho, Chie Filomeno, Fabio Ide, Troy Montero, Aubrey Miles, Daniel Matsunaga, and Gerald Anderson in action as they compete at the tracks using the Vios racecar.

Scores garnered by the racers from the previous leg are being accumulated in order to declare the overall champions by the end of the 2019 season. This applies to both racing formats: the Vios Circuit Championship and the Vios Autocross Challenge.
