The All-New 2020 Nissan Almera Also Gets Turbo Power

Thailand is the first country in the Asia and Oceania region to launch the all-new Almera—Nissan’s revitalized entry into the sub-compact sedan genre that promises new levels of refinement and safety. Oh, and it debuts a brand-new 1.0-liter turbocharged engine as well.

Under the Almera’s hood is a new 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine (HRA0) delivering 100 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque. More than just delivering better power and acceleration than previous Almera generations, it also delivers up to 23.3 km/L. The transmission is Nissan’s Xtronic CVT.

The 2020 Almera does away with the previous generation’s rather generic design for one that’s highly angular. The new design language—Emotional Geometry includes boomerang-shaped headlights and taillights, kicked-up C-pillars, a floating roof, and of course, Nissan’s trademark V-motion grille. Available features include LED headlights while the only available wheel size are 15-inchers with 195/65 R 15 tires (boo).

Lower, wider, and longer than before, the Almera continues to boast one of the roomiest cabins in its class. Moreover, the entirely new interior accommodates more soft-touch material, a new instrument panel, infotainment screen, steering wheel (flat-bottom, of course), and seats. The infotainment system is an 8-inch touchscreen display audio featuring the NissanConnect system. Interestingly enough, the top-of-the-line model features a contrasting white portion, though a pure black interior is still available.

Nissan’s driver assistive suite—Nissan Intelligent Mobility also makes its debut on the Almera. Starting on the mid-grade variant, it gets Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. With four cameras on the front, rear, and side of the vehicle, the all-new Almera offers Intelligent Around View Monitor and Moving Object Detection. Dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and stability control are standard, but only the top trim model gets 6 airbags.

For Thailand, the Almera comes in 6 colors: Radiant Red, Monarch Orange, Storm White, Black Star, Gun Metallic, and Brilliant Silver and in 5 trim levels: S, E, EL, V, and VL. Pricing there ranges from 499,000 to 639,000 Thai Baht (~P 838,000 to ~P 1.07 million) which are, at least in Thailand, comparable with the outgoing model.

The Nissan Sylphy Tops Out at Just P 972K Now

Nissan Philippines is kicking off its last quarter storm with a bang, giving customers big deals on the Almera, Urvan, Navara, Sylphy, and Terra this entire month of October. With Nissan’s “Go Big” promo, select either all-in low downpayment of just P 23,000 or cash savings as much as P 120,000.

If you don’t mind driving the oldest compact sedan in the market, the Sylphy gets a P 80,000 discount across the board. This means you can score one between P 828,000 to P 972,000—cheaper than most top-trim sub-compact sedans. The same goes for the Almera which now tops out at just P 868,000 net of discounts.

If passenger cars aren’t your thing, the biggest discounts can actually be had on the Terra. The top-trim VL 4x4 in particular drops its price by P 120,000. It’s the same situation with the flagship Patrol Royale which gets the same P 120,000 discount. Even the Navara isn’t impervious to discounts this month. Get anywhere between P 30,000 to P 55,000 cash savings until October 31, 2019.

If cash is an issue, the Nissan Go Big Promo also has all-in low downpayment schemes with discounts applied to the 20 percent downpayment.
