MG PH Re-Opens Dealerships Starting Today

MG dealers across the country have started to re-open as the government started easing quarantine protocols. Nine MG dealerships have opened today, May 16 with 5 more slated to re-open by Monday, May 18. See the full list below.

Adhering to the government’s strict health and safety protocols, MG dealerships will require an appointment for all service-related concerns. These can be done through the through the MG app or via the contact numbers below.

Moreover, for brand-new MG units, they will undergo a disinfection treatment system, where an atomized anti-bacterial solution fumigates and deeply penetrates areas of the car’s cabin such as the ventilation system, carpets, and cushions to kill bacteria in hard to reach places. It will also target, in particular, the air conditioning system of each car, removing bacteria, spores, mold, and micro-organisms. This treatment offers non-toxic, long-term protection against the regeneration of germs and microbes. The service will also be made available for existing customers for a minimal fee.

MG Philippines is the Official Car of Miss Universe 2020

MG Philippines has been named the Official Car of the inaugural Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) 2020 competition.

2020 is an especially significant year for MUP since, for the first time in Filipino pageant history, a locally-produced Miss Universe competition will entertain the bids of all aspiring Filipina aspirants to the crown. Moving forward, the MUP competition will be recognized as the venue that will identify which confident, beautiful, and empowered Filipinas will represent the country in international competition.

2020 MG Live! Kicks Off with Cebu Concert This Weekend

MG Philippines continues to showcase the best OPM talents as it kicks off MG Live! 2020 this February. This year MG Philippines is going national: the MG Live! free concert series will be brought to key locations around the country, starting with the first leg happening in Cebu from February 27 to March 1, 2020.

“MG Philippines had a breakout year in 2019 and we want to make sure that we give the public bigger and better offerings in 2020. This February, we are excited to bring back one of our most enjoyable brand engagement activities: the MG Live! free concert series,” says Atty. Alberto B. Despite Coronavirus, MG Philippines Stays Committed to 2020 Plans

With Dongfeng’s Philippine distributor, Pilipinas Autogroup, Inc. already saying that everything is business as usual despite the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) in China, we also reached out to The Covenant Car Company, the exclusive distributor of MG and asked if they are expecting any disruptions on their end.

Their official statement reads, “MG Philippines works closely with the greater SAIC organization and its numerous global hubs that produce MG cars and parts. Given this, there are no disruptions regarding the delivery of our MG vehicles and parts. Everything is business as usual at MG Philippines.”

As MG ended 2019 as one of the best-selling automotive brands in the Philippines, overtaking both Kia and Foton, this is certainly a great piece of news. There will be no delays in their plans this year. Reportedly, these include the launch of the brand’s first-ever pickup truck as well as their first-ever 7-seater mid-sized SUV. They are also opening 7 more dealers, to add to the current 24 dealerships that are open.

Suprise! MG Overtakes Kia, Foton in Full-Year 2019 Sales

One of the more peculiar things with the monthly sales reports of the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) is that its figures for The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) only includes their numbers for Chevrolet; it doesn’t include their new brand, MG. In fact, MG’s Philippine performance has been largely secretive until now.

In a separate statement, TCCCI reports that full-year 2019 sales for its MG brand reached 5,085 units, or a monthly average of 400 units per month. If they were included in any of the CAMPI or AVID sales reports, it would have been enough to make them the 9th best-selling brand, overtaking Kia (5,019) and Foton (4,293).

According to TCCCI, over half of their sales is down to the MG ZS sub-compact crossover.

Due to MG’s very strong sales in 2019, the brand opened 24 dealerships in total. This year, they will be opening 7 more in key locations nationwide.

Two MG Models Score a 5-Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating

MG Motor has made an impressive feat in Europe as two of its vehicles were awarded with the highest possible safety rating by the European New Car Assessment Program or Euro NCAP.

The two vehicles to achieve the 5-star safety rating are the MG ZS EV—the all-electric version of the sub-compact MG ZS crossover, and the MG HS, the brand’s compact crossover and a platform-mate to the local RX5.

The current Euro NCAP tests are the most stringent ever, making MG’s achievement even more significant.

It’s worth noting too that the European MG ZS closely mirrors the spec of the top-line Philippine spec MG ZS Alpha model in that it contains 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, and stability control as standard; these alone would merit a 3-star rating.

The UK home of SAIC and MG design has celebrated its first anniversary and to commemorate the occasion, Advanced Design Director, Carl Gotham and his team, have partnered with UK-based artist DS_Art to create a one-off MG ZS art car which is now displayed at MG Motor UK’s London office.
