Philippines Will Receive These Face Masks Produced by Jeep's Parent Company
Jeep’s parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will be sending much-needed facemasks to the Philippines. This is after the auto giant re-allocated its Comau facility in China to begin production of up to 3 million face masks per month.
In its first 10 days of production, the facility produced over a million face masks, 200,000 of which are being sent to India. After that, donations will commence to FCA’s key markets such as China, U.S., followed by Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
The project to produce face masks was formed with a plan executed in less than 24 hours. The FCA team procured raw materials and machinery, established an ISO Class 8 clean room, and was able to secure all the necessary certifications, export licenses, and government approvals. According to third party audits at a product and process performance level, FCA has met the best European and US standards in the medical field.
“We all have a role to play in supporting those people and countries most in need at this time. Following an evaluation of the ways that we could rally our internal talent and resources, we quickly identified an opportunity to contribute to the global demand for protective face masks.” said Max Trantini, Chief Operating Officer, FCA APAC Region.
FCA will continue the manufacturing of protective face masks for as long as it’s required to support those countries and communities in need.
Auto Nation Group, General Distributor of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram in the Philippines, intends to donate these FCA produced face masks to the Philippine government, which is expected to arrive in the country by June. ANG will coordinate with the appropriate government body to ensure that these protective face masks are received by our front liners.

Jeep PH Will Start Sourcing Products from China
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has confirmed that Jeep Philippines will now start sourcing some of its products from Mainland China. This makes the Philippines the first overseas market for FCA’s Chinese operations.
The news was broken by GAC-FCA, FCA’s joint-venture with GAC Motor Co in a report to Automotive News.
GAC-FCA has started exporting vehicles since January 17, and as of March 31, 527 units of the Jeep Compass and Renegade have already been shipped.
Currently, the plant produces a total of four Jeep models. Aside from the Compass and Renegade, it also makes the Cherokee and Grand Commander.
Established in 2010, the GAC-FCA plant has a total annual capacity of 328,000 vehicles. After peaking in 2017 with 222,332 units sold, it saw annual sales in a steep decline. Exports to the Philippines will improve the utilization of the plant said state-owned GAC Motor.
