Foton, Chery Dealer Employees Receive Financial Aid from Distributor
United Asia Automotive Group, Inc., (UAAGI) the exclusive distributor of Foton and Chery vehicles in the Philippines has extended financial support to all of its dealers’ employees amid the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine.
“I’m concerned about how the business will work out after this pandemic. However, at this challenging time, I’m more concerned about the daily struggles of the members of my team,” shared UAAGI President Rommel Sytin.
To date, Foton has a total of 29 dealerships while Chery has 14 located in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Each employee from these dealerships received a cash aid from UAAGI amounting to P5,000 to support their family’s basic necessities.
“I know how difficult it is to wake up in the morning with the pressure to pay rent, utilities, buy groceries and meet other family expenses. I want to ensure that despite the loss of income, my whole team will still be able to survive the day,” Sytin added.
Since some of its dealer employees reside in areas where banks are closed, UAAGI has made the money-transfer procedure more convenient by partnering with one of the country’s most accessible non-banking financial institution, Cebuana Lhuillier. With close to 2,500 branches nationwide, Foton and Chery dealer employees were able to claim their financial assistance in an instant.
“This challenge reminds me that we’re all connected like never before. We’re all in this together, and by uniting to help protect the most vulnerable, we will be able to come back stronger,” said Sytin.
The business climate in this pandemic is still very much evolving, and the end to this crisis is still very uncertain. But despite the financial challenges, UAAGI continues to monitor the situation and to look at how they can help in an authentic and meaningful way, even beyond financial contributions.
Aside from providing free shuttle service vehicle to front liners, UAAGI has also donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Northern Mindanao Medical Center, Ospital ng Malabon, Tondo Medical Hospital, and hospitals in the City of Valenzuela. UAAGI also donated relief packs to areas in the province of Pampanga.

Chery Auto PH Donates PPEs from Labor Day Virtual Ride
A total of 320 “e-riders” traveled more than 24,200 kilometers during the event. With the automaker pledging to donate 5 pesos worth of PPEs for every kilometer traveled by participants, they were able to pledge some 600 PPEs on the spot. The remaining 300 is a donation made by Chery Auto Philippines.
The PPE gowns were locally manufactured, produced by sewing machines donated by United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI)’s employees’ CARE Cooperative.
Beneficiary hospitals include the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, Ospital ng Malabon, Tondo Medical Hospital, and Valenzuela Hospital.
Participants of Chery Auto Philippines’s labor day ride had to post their proofs of mileage on Facebook or on various cycling apps like Garmin, Zwift, Strava, Bkool with the hashtag #CheryAutoPHRideOn2020 from May 1 to before noon of May 2. Posts must include the date of the ride. Rides must strictly be indoors only and done only on May 1.
The single longest ride accumulated 412.2 kilometers in 17.5 hours.
Recipients for three special awards—Ken Sarabia for Longest Male Distance Spinner, Jermyn Prado for Longest Female Distance Spinner, and Rene Alumbro for First To Reach 100 Kms Spinner were given prizes.

Chery Auto PH Promises Low Cost, Hassle-Free Ownership
Understanding that a strong aftersales program can make or break a brand, Chery Auto Philippines, under its new distributor, United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI) is pretty hyped up to show what they can now offer.
Officially re-launched last November 2019, Chery Auto Philippines is shifting gears to make sure its customers have nothing to worry about. With that, say hello to the Chery Customer Care program.
“All vehicles need consistent care if it is to run powerfully. Maintenance also reduces the risk of roadside breakdowns and costly repairs. My team, through the expertise of our dealerships, is ready to assist you with all procedures to get your vehicle on tip-top shape,” shared Chery Auto Philippines President Rommel Sytin.
Chery Customer Care entails both warranty and parts services.
First on the list is the General Warranty for 5 years or 150,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. This includes the repair of a Chery vehicle in case it fails during normal use due to a manufacturing defect in factory-supplied materials or workmanship.
Next is their unmatched 10-year or 1-million-kilometer engine warranty.
Finally, is a worry-free cost of ownership for the first three years through its free preventive maintenance service. The package includes replacement of oil, air and fuel filters, brake fluid, transmission oil, and a complete checkup of the car’s engine, suspension, transmission and the like.
Oh, and because Chery values their owner’s time, PMS is done only twice a year or every 10,000 kilometers (whichever comes first).
Apart from the generous warranty, the brand also introduced ‘Chery Parts Guarantee’.
The company invested on its spare parts inventory while putting the adequacy of supplies on top of its priorities particularly of PMS parts, fast moving parts, and collision panels in its depot.
“These aftersales programs are set to improve not only the performance and efficiency of our product line, but also the relationship that we have with our end users. Their trust for the brand boosts our confidence and helps us become more driven. We just want to be better and better, and with the Chery Car Care, we will certainly be,” said Sytin.

Chery Auto PH to Double Dealership Footprint in Next 3 Years
At its official brand launch, United Asia Automotive Group (UAAGI), the newly installed distributor of Chery automobiles revealed its plans to fast track the opening of 12 dealerships. Well, that number has just risen to 15 with plans to double its footprint in the next three years.
After just three months since its brand launch, sales operations have started in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
For Metro Manila, Chery tapped the areas of North EDSA, Pasig, Pasong Tamo in Makati, and Alabang in Muntinlupa. The brand also kicked off sales in provincial areas in Luzon such as Cainta, Rizal; Marilao, Bulacan; Bauang, La Union; Bacoor, Cavite; and GMA Cavite. Chery will also be present down south through its dealerships in Iloilo; Talisay, Cebu; General Santos; Davao City; Tagum, Davao; and Cagayan De Oro.
“The trust of my partners is an important part of Chery Auto Philippines’ ongoing initiative to expand dealer network not just in the metro, but also in previously untapped urban and rural markets,” announced the grateful Rommel Sytin, President of UAAGI.
Underscoring the new dealers’ trust in Chery is the fact that none of the dealerships are new to the business. All current Chery dealers are multi-brand operations and, combined, have over 50 years of automotive experience, and employ more than 1,000 employees handling the Chery brand.
These multi-brand dealers include some of the most experienced dealership groups and principals in the automotive industry like A & B United Corporation, Absolute Advantage, Inc., Autohub Group, Alphamile Automotive Dealers, Inc., Autoperfection, Inc., Frontier Automotive of Chiongbian Group, Gateway Group, LICA Group, Magnet Motors, and San Juan Group among others.
Each Chery dealership will be fully equipped to offer a complete array of aftersales services for Chery automobiles including service, parts, and even financing programs.
Chery Auto Philippines plans to establish a total of 25 dealerships across the Philippines within the next three years.
Sytin added, “I am hopeful and overwhelmed with the trust and commitment of my dealer partners. We will continue to be aggressive in terms of providing fun, fresh, and practical driving experiences, as well as bringing state-of-the-art dealerships closer to our customers.”

Chery Auto Opens First Full-Fledged Dealership in Mindanao
Just two months after its brand launch, Chery Auto Philippines, through its distributor United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), officially opened its first complete 3S dealership in Mindanao.
Managed by Autohub Group, one of the country’s top dealership groups, the new showroom is situated in Panacan, Davao City.
UAAGI and Chery Auto Philippines President Rommel Sytin announced, “The China auto industry has arrived. They have mastered automotive technology and design, and elevated it to world-class levels. And with the implementation of the Philippine-China free trade agreement, the duties for imported vehicles from China have made it low enough to compete with imports from our ASEAN neighbors on price point as well.”
“With Chery, we are confident—we are convinced—that all the ingredients are in place. The timing is right,” he added.
Autohub Group President and Chery Davao Dealer Principal Willy Tee Ten shared, “Chery’s line of crossovers is the perfect partner to the city and region's growing economy.”
The Chery Tiggo crossover vehicles are expected to fit right in on the roads of the Davao region. The four Tiggo models (the subcompact Tiggo 2 and 5x, the compact Tiggo 7, and the midsize 7-seater Tiggo 8) will allow their prospective buyers more flexibility in terms of usage.
All Chery Tiggo crossovers offer state-of-the-art Euro 5 powertrains, contemporary styling, and modern comfort, convenience, and safety features. Moreover, UAAGI promises easy access to genuine parts and aftersales service. In fact, they lead the industry with a record-breaking 10-year / 1-million kilometer engine warranty, 5-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, and a 3-year free PMS package.
“We are grateful that our dealers continue to invest in facilities that will not only help grow the Chery brand. Their evident trust allows us to showcase a wide range of products while introducing thoughtful client services that promise to set us apart,” noted Sytin.
Chery Davao City features a warm, welcoming atmosphere compliant with the brand’s new global identity standards. Moreover, the people there are dedicated, open, and transparent whether it be sales or service transactions.
“We chose Chery primarily because of the leadership of UAAGI President Rommel Sytin. They have a very good reputation and they take good care of their dealers. They value marketing and they want their brands and partners to succeed.”
While its dedicated network of dealerships is soon to rise, Chery Auto Philippines has begun sales operations in 15 locations throughout Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Chery Auto Hired a Mazda Designer for Its European Push
One of China’s largest automakers (and its leading exporter) wants to enter one of the most challenging markets in the world, and to do so, they’re focusing on design.
Europe is a tough nut to crack mainly because they’re a design-driven market. It’s for this reason why lots of automakers use the term, “European-inspired” whenever they talk about their design. It seems Chery Auto has understood this quite well, and in preparation for their planned entry there, hired Kevin Rice to head their global design.
While Rice’s name doesn’t ring a bell, his work does. The British-born designer spent the bulk of his career at Mazda as head of the Japanese carmaker’s European design studio. There, he helped shape the MX-5, CX-3, and even concepts like the RX Vision and Vision Coupe. Before that, he worked at BMW and was responsible for vehicles such as the 1, 2, 3 and 4 Series.
Chery Auto is so committed to its expansion into Europe that it established a design center in Frankfurt last year to accelerate their plans. And before its market launch there next year, the Chinese carmaker established partnerships and developed technologies with the help of the world’s leading suppliers.
The new Chery R&D operation to be created in Europe will be in addition to its existing R&D facilities in Wuhu, Beijing, and Shanghai in China. Over the last few years Chery has invested nearly 2 billion RMB (~ P 14 billion) in a new 300,000-square meter Test & Technical Center in China which houses eight laboratories evaluating parts and components; emissions and efficiency; management of vehicle noise, vibration and harshness; passive safety; and materials.
For Europe, Chery will use the Exeed branding which will consist of passenger cars and SUVs all supported by “premium standard processes, high efficiency, and intelligent technologies.” This is different from elsewhere in the world where Chery uses Arrizo for its passenger car line and Tiggo for its SUV line-up.
As for Exeed’s design, it’s said to be inspired by nature, particularly the aesthetic quality of running water which the company calls, “hydrodynamic surfacing.”
Do you think Kevin Rice can whip up something as evocative for Chery as he did at Mazda?

Why Now Is the Time to Bring Chery Auto Back to the Philippines
Under the stewardship of United Asia Automotive Group or UAAGI, Foton has grown to become a powerhouse. From its humble beginnings, it’s now risen to become one of the Top 10 best-selling car brands in the Philippines. With that in mind, UAAGI has set its sights on a new venture, Chery Auto. Will lightning strike twice?
Unknown to many, Chery is the first automotive brand to be exported from China. Suffice to say, things didn’t turn out as they expected. Marred with copycat designs and quality issues, they learned that they needed to step up their game. Facing a fast-growing automotive market there, Chery established a holistic technical and product R&D system, and tired global talents. They even invested in their own powertrain development and rationalized their platform development.
Their investment and hard work certainly paid off. In the latest 2019 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS), Chery ended up with a 92 PP100 score—well above the average of 97 PP100. The study tracks new-vehicle quality by examining problems experienced by new-vehicle owners within the first two to six months of ownership. The overall initial quality score is determined by problems reported per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower number of problems indicating higher quality.
“Chery approached me two years ago,” reveals Rommel Sytin, President of UAAGI. “I was somewhat hesitant until I made a visit to their headquarters in Wuhu, China. Their vehicles, particularly the crossovers, have evolved into truly world-class products in terms of design, specifications, workmanship, and performance. They are already compliant with Euro 5 and even Euro 6 emissions standards. Their manufacturing facility is fully robotized.”
Investment in R&D has helped Chery grow, selling 7.2 million vehicles since its founding in 1997. Additionally, they’ve exported more than 1.4 million units to over 80 countries. In 2018 alone, they exported 126,993 units—more than MG, JAC, and Brilliance (the next three biggest exporters) combined.
“The products and the service weren’t what the market needed then,” says Sytin. “But now, we are confident—we are convinced—that all the ingredients are in place. The timing is right.”
And if Filipino customers aren’t convinced enough, Chery is offering an industry-leading 10-year / 1-million-kilometer powertrain warranty on top of a 5-year general vehicle warranty. Further sweetening the deal, Chery Auto is also throwing in three years of preventive maintenance service for free.
