Subaru Launches the 2020 Forester GT Edition for P 2.120M
After a series of previews in Singapore, Motor Image Pilipinas, the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines has finally revealed the pricing of this special edition model. If you’re standing at the moment, we encourage you to sit down and take a deep breath.
Are you ready?
It starts at P 2,070,000. We say, “it starts at,” because while there’s just one variant of the Forester GT Edition officially, the pricing is determined whether it’s based off an MY2019 or MY2020 Forester 2.0i-S. The price we quoted is for an MY2019. If you want an MY2020 Forester GT Edition, the price goes up to P 2.120 million.
If you’re keeping track, that’s a P 102,000 premium over the Forester 2.0i-S on which the GT Edition’s based on. For that added premium, you get a body kit designed exclusively for Motor Image by Subaru’s “hitmaker” Mr. Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi.
Like his work on the Subaru XV GT Edition, the Forester GT Edition receives integral aero elements such as a front bumper extension, side skirts, roof spoiler, and rear bumper extension. The body kit itself is made in Japan by engineering company Giken. This is complemented by a set of five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels with a “GT” labeled center cap.
Inside, it gets a two-tone black and gray leather seats as well as a new 8-inch Panasonic Display Audio System which gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. And like the rest of the Forester and Subaru XV models, the Forester GT Edition gets the SAR 360—Superview Around Recognition camera as well.
The Subaru Forester GT Edition was supposed to be Motor Image Pilipinas’s main highlight at the Manila International Auto Show. Given that MIAS organizers have opted to postpone the annual motor show, Motor Image Pilipinas says that sales of the Forester GT Edition start immediately.
The colors available are: Crystal Black Pearl, Crystal White Pearl, Dark Gray Metallic, Ice Silver Metallic, Crimson Red Pearl, and Sepia Bronze Metallic.
